While conducting our research we considered options such as making adjustable Baby slings. There are 3 ways that we found how to make adjustable Baby Pouch style Baby slings but none of those methods proved to be absolutely safe for us. Ultimately this means that in our research we found that there was no practical way of making them adjustable that didn’t include buckles, rings or open ended fabric.
It is important to note that the probability of buckles and rings breaking are very remote and we personally have only read about a couple of incidents overseas, but nevertheless as parents to two beautiful babies I did not want to make anything that had even the slightest potential of breaking, therefore after careful consideration and months of research we decided to make non adjustable pouch style Baby slings in different sizes to fit the wearer.

The Joey Sling Baby carriers are different for many reasons. We did our research and we know there are many styles on the market but we wanted to make ours different.
We first researched Baby Pouch style Baby slings to understand how they work. What makes them so practical and comfortable – what are the key functional design elements.
This is what we found. The most key design elements are curvature of Baby Pouch and width and length. We made several prototypes with different depths and different widths, some narrow, some wider and the finished product is what we believe to be the best on the market produced to the optimum design for both baby and wearer.

Baby wearing is a time honoured tradition that stems back many centuries and across many cultures.
For example in my mum’s village when she was a young mother with her newborn son she would wear him wrapped around her with my brother sitting on her back. This allowed her to get on with her daily chores such as cooking and cleaning.
When discussing this with my mother further she said that it was common practice for all the women in the village (50’s and 60’s) and that all the mums would carry their babies in some form of Sling Baby carriers.
